Department of CSE started functioning in the year of 2000. The department has a highly committed faculty which is keen on encouraging students to involve in various co-curricular and extra-curricular activities along with their academics. Also the department has a highly advanced infrastructure including high speed internet facilities, class rooms equipped with LCD projectors and interactive boards and well equipped software and hardware labs. It organizes, on a regular basis, supplementary program for students which include paper presentations, technical seminar and quizzes. It also conducts short-term training program for both the staff and students for updating them with the latest technological trends.

Message from HOD

The computer science department at Govt. Engineering College Idukki was established in the year 2000. It offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs that prepare students for careers in a variety of fields, including software engineering, data science, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity. Our faculty, who are well experienced and graduated from premier institutes are experts in their respective fields and are committed to providing students with high-quality education. The department is also recognised as a research centre under the Kerala Technological University. In addition to our academic programs, students take part in a variety of extracurricular activities, such as the IEEE computer society, the hackathon and the robotics clubs. These activities provide students with opportunities to network with other students and professionals, learn new skills, and get involved in the community. We also encourage our students to take up academic projects of social relevance where they can apply their technical knowledge for building a better society. The department has industry partnerships, which provide students with opportunities to gain real-world experience through internships. We have collaborated with IIT Madras Incubation Cell for providing activity oriented learning experience. Our alumni are working in top companies, some have opted for higher studies and some have joined research groups in Indian and foreign universities. The computer science department is committed to diversity and inclusion, and it offers a variety of programs and resources to support students from all backgrounds. The four year degree program has an intake of 69 including 6 lateral entry seats.

M.Tech

The department runs an M.Tech program with specialization in Computer Science and System Engineering. The annual intake is 18.
